I am writing this letter in support of Cary L. Renault’s continuing efforts to involve students in activities that bring attention to the needs and concerns of the disabled. It is vital that the special needs of all citizens are taken into account and that there is open dialogue on all issues in this area.
As Coordinator of Student Support Services at Lowell High School I am responsible for ensuring that all students are treated fairly and that no student’s rights are violated. Our goal for all students is to help them to become productive, active members of the community. Mr. Renault’s tireless efforts on the behalf of disabled persons make him a role model for our students.
Mr. Renault’s efforts to increase access for all citizens deserve our focused attention. Too often those not directly faced with disabilities become blind to the needs of those who live with disabilities every day. As I work to assist students with disabilities I strive to put myself in their shoes to increase my understanding. I am hoping that others will do the same and take the path of the reasonable man when determining whether or not accommodations can be made. The role that Mr. Renault has chosen to play is not one that is easy, but I think any of us would be proud if our children were each as determined to contribute to the community and to make a difference.
I support Mr. Renault wholeheartedly as he continues to work within the system to increase understanding and improve the lives of the disabled citizens who are our friends and neighbors.
Sincerely,
Norma J. Audy
