About the Network

ADA Tech Network is ADA Technology's innovative and unique fully accessible learning web network.

The Network is innovative, in that it uses a new system of delivering learning material to its users. The system is comparable to the ON Demand TV subscription services, but has additional enhanced features and unique customization options. Each user can choose his or her own learning material, or can build new ones from blocks of data. One can also set the level of accessibility and time of delivery. See examples.

The ADA Tech Network is unique because it joins social and technological friendliness in one network.

Social friendliness is attained through:
  • connecting severely disabled users with their peers, teachers, relatives, doctors, and specialists
  • distributing learning materials and other applications of interest for severely disabled people through the network, and
  • enabling teachers to contribute data and materials interactively to the network library of learning
Technological friendliness, or the ability to access, read, and navigate web pages despite physical impairments, is attained through:
  • delivery of learning materials to the users with a level of accessibility appropriate for each individual user
  • compatibility between the network's interfaces and the adaptive devices of severely disabled users

A learning web network, based on these principles, will bring severely disabled students freedom and flexibility. That is, they will, communicate online, access learning material on their terms, and work flawlessly with the network. These students do not have such abilities when using the public Internet. The current Internet applications are not accessible to them and are incompatible with their adaptive devices and computers.

Though it is currently impossible to make the entire public Internet fully accessible for everyone, it is possible using new standards and special network architecture to build an independent local web network that will bridge the divide. This is exactly what ADA Technology wants to achieve with its learning web Network - to create a web environment fully accessible to its members regardless of their disabilities or the devices they use.

ADA Technology is working towards
  • an easily maintainable web network that will decrease costs associated with servicing the network and increase its effectiveness
  • an interactive web network with easy-to-use management panels for teachers and other users who contribute information and learning data
  • an expandable web network model able to be duplicated that serves groups of disabled users of varying ages, locations, and levels of disability
  • a highly compatible model able to switch from use by sophisticated personal computers, to simple terminals, or a personal multimedia receiver, independent of a panel for input (in order to dramatically decreasing costs and simplifying ease of use)

ADA Tech Network is a step towards the future of universal accessibility; a future where users are able to choose among devices to access the Internet. Users will access the Internet in ways that are appropriate for their hardware capabilities, software, network infrastructure, native language, culture, geographical location, and physical and/or mental abilities. Rather than being afraid of future advances, which can potentially shut out audiences with special needs, the ADA Tech. Network embraces the concepts of the 21st Century Internet, but employs them to their fullest ensuring accessibility for everyone.
